Dunlevy, PA, February 8, 2021 – The Mon Valley Alliance Foundation recently awarded the Borough of Dunlevy a Community Development Grant of $10,549.00 toward a new Walnut Street Extension/Rail Crossing and associated resurfacing of adjoining streets within the borough.

The project was initiated in 2012 after an Ingress/Egress Study by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation that deemed current access points into Dunlevy from State Route 88 were below public safety requirements. The Borough was able to secure funding from the Department of Housing & Urban Development Community Development Block Grant Program, Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, Washington County Local Share Account, and the Borough of Dunlevy.

It is anticipated this project will be completed in the summer of 2021.

“These funds will complete the final piece of an overall $843,549 safety and accessibility local road project” said Ben Brown, CEO of the Mon Valley Alliance Foundation. “Completing this project will bring the Borough into compliance with state regulations and enhance public safety for access to youth soccer fields, business, and housing in the borough.” The Mon Valley Alliance Foundation Community Development grant program serves to assist local municipalities with planning, administration and funding for critical public benefit projects
