Mon Valley Alliance elects three to serve on Board

New members represent small business community and diversify current Board

 

Charleroi, PA, December 19, 2016 – The Mon Valley Alliance (MVA) announced today the election of additional community leaders, filling three of the final five positions of its fifteen-member Board of Directors.


Mary Stollar, Gina C. Lynn and Tanya Chaney were nominated by a specially formed selection committee, comprising community leaders and MVA’s Executive Committee. The three were unanimously approved by the current members of the Board and will begin serving their terms January 1, 2017.


“I am pleased to welcome our new board members and value the economic development, small business and startup expertise that they will bring to this organizations,” said Christopher Whitlatch, CEO of MVA. “The organization understood the need to diversify our board representation, and I am proud to welcome not only three women, but also geographic representation from Monongahela, Rostraver and Washington.”


Stollar serves as Senior Vice President, Economic Development of the Washington County Chamber of Commerce. In her role, she works with the County’s other economic development agencies, real estate professionals and property owners to inventory and market the available commercial, industrial and retail property in Washington County.


“I am very excited to be part of this new board and direction at the Mon Valley Alliance, said Stollar. “The Washington County Chamber of Commerce has been a strong partner of the Mon Valley Alliance and we look forward to continuing the work on the revitalization of the Mon Valley.”


Lynn is the Executive Director of the Greater Rostraver Chamber of Commerce. Entering her 9th year with the GRC, Gina has contributed to the Chamber’s steady growth by expanding the service area far beyond Rostraver/Belle Vernon, and has implemented several successful annual events for the organization.


“I recognize the importance of giving back to my community to provide a better place to live, work and play for all residents,” said Lynn. “I am hopeful that MVA programs and projects will benefit from my volunteer involvement and I am looking forward to collaborating with the diverse and dynamic MVA team.”


Chaney is a spa owner and massage therapist with 16 years’ experience. She has served on many committees and boards ranging from local chambers of commerce and the Mon Valley YMCA to a national certification board certification specific to her industry. Chaney was recently appointed as the President of the Young Professionals of the Mon Valley and in this role, she works closely with the Mon Valley Regional Chamber of Commerce.
