Global Distribution Center scheduled for completion Summer 2021
Fallowfield Twp., PA, July 17th, 2020 – The Mon Valley Alliance (MVA) has sold Lot 11A in Alta Vista Business Park to an affiliate of Suncap Property Group for development of Komatsu Mining Corp’s, 250,000 square foot global distribution center.
Komatsu Mining Corp. is part of the global Komatsu family of companies; indispensable partners to the mining, forestry, industrial and construction industries. Komatsu Mining provides essential equipment, systems and solutions used by companies worldwide to extract fundamental minerals for developing modern infrastructure, technology and consumer products.
Komatsu, with operations in Washington County, PA for over 60 years, chose Alta Vista Business Park for its access to a regional and national transportation system (I-70, I-79 and I-76), a shovel ready site with a Keystone Opportunity Zone (KOZ) designation, and access to an available regional manufacturing and technology based workforce.
The new, Class A world class facility, will contain 215,000 square feet of warehouse and 35,000 square feet of office space, with over 250 parking spaces, all located on almost 30 acres of land.
“This development is the result of investments made by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Washington County Commissioners through the Local Share Account program, Fallowfield Township, Charleroi Area School District and led by our local political and business leaders to keep and grow the number of family sustaining jobs, increase the tax base, and spur economic development in our local community”, said Ben Brown, CEO of the Mon Valley Alliance.
Alta Vista Business Park currently has 30 additional acres of pad ready sites available for new construction with tax abatement programs in place. Current occupants include Progeny Systems; Ingersoll Rand, Inc; Scientific Drilling; and Nine Energy Service.
The MVA is scheduled to begin construction on a new 35,000 square foot flex facility in the fall of 2020, with competition in the summer of 2021. This building will be available for lease to advanced manufacturing, technology, healthcare, and related businesses to further increase the economic activity of the Mon Valley.
