Question & Answers

QUESTION: Site access – the location of the rock construction entrance shown on the prints doesn’t seem to be best with the existing drop off. Is there a certain assumption you’d like us to make to ensure we are bidding “apples to apples” with other contractors?

RESPONSE: Site access will need to remain the same as in the drawings due to MVA Property Ownership.  We expect a bid to be consistent with what is being asked of the plans from all contractors.

QUESTION: Any additional clearing / grubbing that is known and we should assume in our proposal?

RESPONSE: Additional clearing or grubbing should be considered following the site walkthrough.

QUESTION: Are there recommendations for digging around the pipeline (i.e. soft dig, hydro)?
RESPONSE: The contractor shall coordinate with the gas company for any excavation near and around the gas line.  Peoples Natural Gas Company typically recommends the use of hydro excavation around gas lines to avoid any damage.  A representative from Peoples Natural Gas Company should be on site for excavation performed near the gas line.

QUESTION: Will the R7 rip rap require grouting the spacing?
RESPONSE: The grout that is used for Channel Section 1 shall be applied to the placement thickness of the R-7 riprap to fill the void area between the rock.  The grout shall be placed the entire width of the channel, including side slopes, and full depth between the voids of the R-7 riprap stone.

QUESTION: Are there permits that are still needed to be obtained for the project? Or would that be regarding bonding township roads.

RESPONSE: NPDES permit will be secured by MVA, any additional permits (i.e. bonding township roads) should be considered in your proposal.
