The Mon Valley Alliance Appoints CEO

The Mon Valley Alliance Board of Directors announced today that Christopher Whitlatch been hired to join the organization in the newly created position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Christopher Whitlatch brings with him more than 20 years of non-profit and corporate experience, having spent the last seven years with The Pittsburgh Foundation as the Director of Digital Initiatives/Communications.

The Mon Valley Alliance (MVA) went through an extensive process including the hiring of a search firm that presented the Search Committee with more than 40 candidates, including the former Executive Directors of the Mon Valley Progress Council and the Middle Monongahela Industrial Development Association. The MVA Board of Directors unanimously selected Christopher Whitlatch to be the MVA Chief Executive Officer. “We believe Christopher was the best candidate to lead the organization and accomplish the mission for the Mon Valley Alliance” said John Easoz, Chairman MVA.

“I am excited about the mission of the Mon Valley Alliance and the opportunity to become one of the leading organizations in our region creating economic development and jobs for the Mon Valley communities.” said Christopher Whitlatch, Chief Executive Officer, MVA. “I look forward to what we can accomplish together.”

The MVA Board of Directors also acknowledged the former Executive Director of the Mon Valley Progress Council Joe Kirk and the former Executive Director of Middle Monongahela Industrial Development Association Lue Ann Pawlick for their many years of dedicated service and significant contributions to the greater Mon Valley region.

Since the April 1, 2016 MVA formation through the consolidation of the Mon Valley Progress Council (MVPC) and the Middle Monongahela Industrial Development Association (MMIDA), the Board has been busy executing its mission. The intention to hire a CEO to lead the new organization was announced as part of the consolidation plan.  Then in May, the Mon Valley Alliance held a Launch Reception for more than 270 business leaders, political leaders, community leaders, regional media and other interested constituents.  At the Launch Reception it unveiled its new logo, branding, and promotional video, introduced the new board of directors and provided additional insight into its mission and vision.

Christopher Whitlatch will begin his tenure as CEO in Mid-September. On his agenda will be outlining the strategies for the MVA, development of a new MVA website, and introducing himself to the Mon Valley. With this appointment, the organization will complete the recruitment and nomination of members for the five remaining board seats. Individuals interested in becoming a candidate for the available board positions can contact Board Chairman John Easoz at the e-mail address listed below.
